Want to Feel Comfortable in Your Own Skin?
Yes! As an experienced, licensed Esthetician I’m going to navigate the world of skin care to get you the confidence and comfort you want. Leave it to me to sift through the hundreds of products, beauty bloggers and how-to videos. What I extract from my research will help you achieve or hang on to beautiful skin.
The products I develop and the brands I recommend have a several commonalities. They will always be:
Cruelty-free, never tested on animals
Healthy, using the highest-quality ingredients
Effective to make positive changes in your skin
Socially-conscious, from the business ethos right down to the packaging and shipping materials
I believe that simply cleansing and nourishing your skin with the right products can help you look and feel refreshed, rejuvenated, bright-eyed and beautiful. I know you will feel these same things from your very first splash.
Was there a time when I wasn’t interested in cosmetics and skin care?! My first memory of makeup was when I was applying tiny tubes of lipstick onto my face from my mother’s Avon Lady sample case. Trying to remove it is how I discovered my love for skin care. I experimented with homemade concoctions in our kitchen with things like strawberries and egg yolks. I convinced my mom to buy these gel-like peel-off masks that had a very distinct smell and a weird little brush that was attached to the inside of the cap. I ran around from room to room with a big smile until the mask would crackle.
Thankfully, I found my way into the professional world of skin care in the early 90’s and have happily been here ever since. Starting out in the highly competitive Washington DC area, I was able to build a wonderful clientele from struggling students to celebs to royalty. In the late 90’s, I began to expand my experience by participating in the product design and development for a successful cosmetics line.
After relocating to San Francisco, I opened BellaPelle Skin Studio in Union Square in 2002, which received recognition by several beauty and fashion magazines. The clientele was a diverse and loyal following, some of whom have become dear friends over the years. Clients were drawn to the studio’s mission for health, beauty and community outreach.
In 2003, one year after opening, I could not find a single product line that I felt comfortable recommending to my clients that satisfied all of their demands and my requirements. I envisioned and began developing a line that made no compromises. My products would be healthy, cruelty-free and effective.
As luck (and some very hard work) would have it, it was a success. We were able to design the BellaPelle Skin Care line that treated just about every skin condition out there and included our clients in the development process. I’d fill sample jars of lotions and potions for them to try out and in turn they would give me feedback about texture, scent, and effectiveness.
Thanks to my amazing clients, friend circle, and family, I have had an incredible journey. I cannot wait to see what the next phase of Shelley Skin Care will bring!
